The movie started out with the main character, a Black priest with internalized racism, trying to proselytize in a foreign country. I think it was a jungle setting? The priest has good intentions and acts friendly, but it's clear that he looks down on the indigenous people and their religion.
It cuts to a scene years later, where the priest talks to Obama about how he wants to proselytize large amounts of people there. It was also implied that he wanted to commit genocide. Obama sees what’s on his mind and says a speech that ends with the phrase “sometimes you can be the bad black guy”.
Different members of a white suburban middle class family who were also main/ supporting characters one person would die the other person would freak out but then say “oh well never mind they have eternal life” then they would die then another person would find them and the cycle would continue, starting with grandparents and moving on to teenage girl who somehow broke the weird cycle, implying that the family’s kids would become protagonists/ defeat whatever it was that was causing that (the priest I think)
For some reason, the movie cut out there and I couldn’t find my place, so I decided to read how it ended on Wikipedia. But I didn't get to find out how it ended before the dream ended.
Family Guy did a parody of the movie involving an atheist family.
